The local picture

Installing in New South Wales

New South Wales has the largest installer base in the country, from Sydney and the Central Coast to Newcastle, Wollongong and Albury. High volume means tight margins, and a trader that pays slowly or takes fees comes straight out of your profit.

Three networks cover most jobs: Ausgrid across Sydney and the Hunter, Endeavour Energy in western Sydney and the south-west, and Essential Energy across regional areas. Each has its own application portal and export rules, so check the approval matches the address before you lodge.

We settle jobs in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Central Coast and Albury and everywhere in between. For the general process, see STC trading or how it works.

Solar zones

What zone are you in?

Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong are Zone 3. Western and far north-west NSW can move into higher-rated zones, so a regional job can create more STCs per kW than a coastal one at the same system size.

State incentives

Also on your radar

NSW also runs the Energy Savings Scheme, which creates ESCs for eligible efficiency work, and the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme, which rewards certain appliance and equipment upgrades. They are separate from STCs and have their own accreditation. Ask the desk if you want to know where they might overlap with your work.

How it works

Four steps. One business day. Done.

  1. 01

    Sign up in minutes

Tell us about your business and accreditation. We set you up, assign your account manager and send your rate card the same day.

  2. 02

    Lodge the job

Upload the assignment form, compliance certificate and photos through your portal, or email them to the desk. Our checklist tells you exactly what we need.

  3. 03

    We check and clear it

The compliance desk reviews every claim before it's lodged with the registry. If something's missing, we tell you straight away.

  4. 04

    Paid within 24 hours

Once the claim is cleared, we pay. No invoices to chase, no waiting on the registry, no fees taken out.

Questions

New South Wales STC questions, answered

What is the NSW electrical certificate called?
The Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), supplied by the electrician. A copy goes in the claim pack.
Which network applies in Sydney?
Mostly Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy, depending on the suburb. Regional NSW is mostly Essential Energy.
Do ESCs replace STCs?
No. ESCs are a state scheme for energy savings activities and are separate from federal STCs for solar PV.
Can a regional NSW job create more STCs?
It can, if the postcode sits in a higher-rated zone. Check the postcode in the Clean Energy Regulator calculator.
